This structure was initiated to replace the Chemistry Laboratories which were deemed obsolete at their location in Brackett Hall. The four-floor building consisted of 100,000 square-feet of laboratory, office, and classroom space. The complex included the main laboratory building and a separate 250 seat triangular auditorium. The first floor of the main building houses chemistry laboratories, a chemistry learning resource center, one of three seminar rooms, and a computer center. Teaching and research laboratories and offices occupy the second, third, and fourth floors. In addition, a high pressure lab was provided on the roof of the building. The laboratories were planned on a 10'-6" x 27'-0" module to provide the flexibility for future modification.

The project was completed by Kenneth M. Betsch, AIA while a Principal with Odell Associates, Inc.
